LowInvert2HalfRoll

Click on the image on at left to download and play a video [540 Kb] of an odd maneuver that shows the unique environment particular to Dynamic Soaring. The clip starts with a dive and inverted pull out over the flat. A low inverted pass to the lip hits turbulence and almost runs out of gas before getting there. At the lip, the shear boundary is reached, and increase in airspeed is used to roll upright. At the same time, the model climbs and moves backward over the ground for a moment before gaining enough energy from the free stream slope lift to start moving forward again. The model is the International Party Machine rigged with torquevons. The flying site is Chickies Rock Park.
